Assemblymember Berryhill spoke brilliantly on the need for the cost benefit analysis. Action Alert: Support For Assembly Bill 550 Needed Today!?

Dear Restore the Delta supporters, Assemblymember Alyson Huber is sponsoring AB550 — a bill that would require the legislature to vote on the merits of a peripheral canal after a full cost analysis. Pasted below, you will find Restore the Delta’s letter in support of the bill.  Feel free to use it as a template to send your own letter to Assemblymember Jared Huffman, Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks, and [...]

Sustaining Restore the Delta

Dear friend, Real change for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta will take more than opposing questionable legislation or an ill-conceived government process like the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. The numerous governing processes that effect the Delta need constant and consistent monitoring from the Delta community.  And, we, Delta residents, recreationists, farmers, and business leaders need to communicate our own vision for the Delta’s future. Even more important, our vision needs to be consistently reported to the larger Delta urban community, the media, and to our neighbors throughout the State in a credible and thought provoking way. That’s what we do in the Delta Flows newsletter, in our action alerts, and in our media releases. That is the message that we are [...]

Urgent Alert: Stop the $11 Billion Water Bond, Call your legislators today!

Dear Friends, Call your legislator today: No on A.B. 1265! No water bond! We’ve just heard that the California Legislature is taking up a bill on Monday that would move Proposition 18, the $11 billion water bond, to the 2012 ballot. This is a huge mistake. The bond should be scrapped entirely, not postponed. Can you call your legislators today and ask them to vote NO on A.B. 1265? A vote for A.B. 1265 is a vote for the water bond, and we don’t want that! We’ve done the research and found that the main beneficiaries of the bond would be developers, construction companies and corporate agribusinesses — the same interests that have overused and polluted our water in the [...]
