ACTION ALERT: SPEAK UP AT DELTA TUNNELS JPA MEETING THIS THURSDAY; HELP NRDC PROTECT CA WATERWAYS

This Thursday, July 19, the Construction Joint Powers Authority for the Delta tunnels project is meeting in Sacramento to discuss the possibility of authorizing its Executive Director to implement a professional services agreement with the Hallmark Group—a construction company that faced public scrutiny last fall when a state audit revealed Hallmark was unqualified to successfully execute a project like the twin tunnels.

JPA MEETING DETAILS

WHAT: Construction Joint Powers Authority (JPA) meeting

WHERE: Sacramento Public Library, Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95184

WHEN: Thursday, July 19, 2018 2:00 p.m.

To let the JPA board know we are listening, we need as many Delta advocates to attend Thursday’s meeting and deliver public comments. It is important to remind the JPA board that the public will hold them accountable for doing work with an unqualified company like the Hallmark Group and for remaining silent on congressional efforts to eliminate due process for the Delta like the Calvert rider and Valadao rider.

If you cannot attend Thursday’s meeting, please submit comments via email to info@dcdca.org or call 916-347-0486.

HOW YOU CAN HELP NRDC IMPROVE PROTECTIONS FOR THE SF BAY-DELTA

“The San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary — the largest estuary on the Pacific Coast of North and South America — has just been thrown a lifeline to pull it back from the brink of disaster.

“Today, only a small fraction of water that would naturally flow in the rivers of the San Joaquin Basin actually reaches the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary due to California’s multitude of dams, canals, and other water diversions — threatening water quality, native salmon, thousands of jobs, and drinking water for 25 million Americans.

“Urge the State Water Resources Control Board to adopt stronger protections for San Francisco’s Bay-Delta Estuary and help protect California’s vital waters for future generations.

“Make your voice heard before the comment period ends at noon on July 27.” – NRDC
