We need California leaders to stop this destructive legacy where about 350 industrial irrigators will receive close to a million acre feet of a guaranteed water supply contract with no acreage limitations courtesy of the American taxpayer, and at the expense of needed flows to protect the San Francisco Bay-Delta estuary.
What does the American taxpayer get for paying Westlands Water District's water bills forever at a cost of more than a quarter billion dollars? Some vague assurances that Westlands will keep millions of gallons of polluted water within their boundaries, and not belch it back into groundwater supplies, the San Joaquin River, and the Delta, when the Federal Government could not solve the same problem for decades.
Our elected officials should be insisting on better water quality protections for communities in the San Joaquin Valley, the Delta, and the San Joaquin River. Tell them that they should not sully their own environmental legacies by failing to act to curtail this bad deal for Californians and Federal tax payers. Tell our Senators that they must defend water quality in the San Joaquin Valley and Delta from legacy projects.
Thank you for your help with this effort.
Yours in service,
Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla
Restore the Delta
We have one Delta. Do not have the death of the delta estuaries as YOUR legacy. Almonds get shipped out. The Calif Delta is unique, one of a kind and instead of saving this, you are condemning the delta and all the animals and sealife that depend on fresh and brackish waters. The tunnels are called “Jerry Tunnels”. That’s you, that will be your legacy. Please do not build the tunnels.
Nothing is more important than water in California. We need to do everything that we can to protect our Delta and San Joaquin Valley water.
Please stop the tunnels in Delta
I am in concert with all those who need to stop this diversion of water from the Merced River. There are so many plans which can provide a solution to everyone’s goal. Sacramento and Washington D.C. also represent us and they need to lend a ear to our concerns.
I called both numbers. Left a vxml for Sen Boxer and spoke to a rep at Gov Brown’s office.
thank you for the action request!
This is terrible. California is in deep debt and they’re forgiving loans!!!!! Who does that!!! On top of that, California is giving a small group of farmers Northern SJV water rights when they should not have any. Unbelievable!!! Please stop this bill!!!
A Bay-Delta that cannot support fish cannot supply clean drinking water. The external costs of farming the semi-aris desert of western San Joaquin Valley must be addressed. Externalizing those costs onto the environment and taxpayers has created a disaster of epic proportions. Please begin mitigation by voting down this bill.
Sincerely,
Michael Frost
Please Please Please stop this lunacy. You need top Stop allowing big money and YOUR OWN POCKETBOOKS to stop you from doing the job we elected you to do. That is “work for the people!” Our government has become the property of big money filled with not only greed but total disrespect for the people and the environment!! This issue will turn into another Dakota pipeline protest! The people are sick and tired of the rich getting richer, not only our expense but the expense of our children when you allow them to destroy the country’s resources!! If GOD wanted farms in desert he would have made them with there own water. For what? A bunch of rich ass NUTS that can’t spend what they have now. It’s pure GREED and IT’S WRONG!!!
No tunnels!
Please do not let this bill pass. It directly affects my family’s heritage and all of us Californians!!! This is a dead end bill and has much more negative impacts than anything else. Please do all you can to squash this bill before it ruins our waterways and Delta even more!
No! No! No!
No, no no!
Elected officials should not sully their own environmental legacies by failing to act to curtail this bad deal for Californians and Federal tax payers. Tell our Senators that they must defend water quality in the San Joaquin Valley and Delta from legacy projects.
please preserve our delta!
Please please please help us stand up to the billionaire bullies who have no forethought into the future of water or concerns about accessibility to clean water for all. Please.
Please save the Delta for our children and grandchildren. We are called by God to care for His creation.
Money isn’t everything. Please help protect what makes California an amazing place to live.
Stop the tunnels!!!
STOP the Agreement between Feds and Westland Water District!
Please save our delta! This is not a fair arrangement at all.
Stop the Agreement Between the Feds and Westland Water District.
Delta water health is imperative to the whole state. This effects the San Francisco Bay and nursery of fish stocks for the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Farmers need to change the crops they grow to plants that need less water. Growing crops that require lots of water, like alfalfa, almonds, and rice in a virtual desert just doesn’t make sense. Ground subsidence and salt water intrusion from overpumping the aquifer is a problem, and water diversions from surface water threatens the environment. At this time, the federal government is unlikely to care about endangered plants and animals, but you should. It is important for leaders in California to take a stand for the Delta and all that depend on its health. Please oppose bill H.R. 4366.
Do not let this water grab go through!
The Delta is the cradle of many endangered fish and amphibian species. Salmon are a healthy food source worth millions of dollars for our economy. Salmon are native and almond farming is not. We need to start working with nature instead of against her if we want to survive.
I strongly oppose H.R.. 4366. This is a deplorable bill. Please Senators do the right thing and vote no.
This is a bad deal for California. Please do not allow this deal to go through.
Please stop this, it cannot be allowed on an already strained to the point of dying ecosystem,
Big Ag has for too long have environmentally taken and never given anything back. It’s time to put a stop to this.
Oppose bill HR 4366. I want you to defend our water quality protections for northern California communities and the SF Bay/Delta Estuary. Please protect our waters from these legacy projects in the San Jouquin Valley & River and the Delta & anywhere else they may pop up in Northern Califoria. We need our water. Do not kill our Delta, stop the Tunnels. Or kill our rivers, please protect them and you will be protecting us.
It is already painfully obvious that California needs to be exremely careful with it’s water supply. We must defend water quality in the San Joaquin Valley and Delta from legacy projects. The Delta is a completely unique ecosystem that we have to respect and protect for the health of the people, wildlife, and environment. Please protect one of California’s greatest treasures.
We must keep asking our government and elected officials to stop the Delta Tunnel project. the Tunnels are dependent on upriver rainwater sources. We must protect our fresh water and can achieve our needs by recycling water and using other water gathering methods. We can both improve our potable water standards and wastewater treatment equipment.
We can improve our statewide municipal wastewater treatment facilities to produce really useable potable water and construct hundreds of industrial/agricultural wastewater treatment facilities everywhere in the state. Recycling water makes new potable fresh water.
We can greatly improve the filtration processes and standards. Technology companies have invented many new systems that are in use in the USA and around the world.
Invasive plant Species that are currently sprayed with herbicides and pesticides can be harvested for composting instead. The harvesting equipment in use in other states is available to purchase and either Compost or biofuel companies or the government can do the harvesting.
The herbicides (glyphosate) are probable carcinogens (different versions of Agent Orange) and we need to stop spraying. Lets make some new jobs and companies and renovate our world here and now.
