Once again, Tim Quinn and ACWA (Assoc. of California Water Agencies) have stepped up their lobbying in advance of the lame duck Congressional session urging Congress to pass controversial drought legislation. This new letter was sent to the entire California Congressional delegation in Congress and blames the state’s water supply predicament almost entirely on protections for Bay-Delta fisheries and wildlife, and actions by federal officials to avoid species extinction.
We need you to call your Congressional Representative and tell them to protect Delta fisheries by standing strong against the increased Delta pumping bills by Senator Feinstein and Congressman Valadao. Tell them that you are aware of ACWA (pronounced Aqua) attempting to push through Federal legislation designed to take more water from the SF Bay-Delta estuary. Tell them how ACWA’s members just told the State Water Resources Control Board that mandatory conservation rules are no longer necessary, even though we are entering our sixth year of drought. ACWA wants it both ways, no restrictions on taking water, and no restrictions on much water people use — all at the expense of the people and fisheries of the Bay-Delta estuary.
To learn more about ACWA’s lobbying effort, please read this letter.
Thank you. And let us know how it goes when you make the call.
To find your Congressional Rep’s number, check this list of all California Congressional Representatives, or go to http://whoismyrepresentative.com/ to type in your zip code.

C’mon Man! 🙁
I spoke with Congressman Swalwell’s staff person in DC, expressing opposition to any legislation which would enable shipping more Delta water south, and also sent him an email expressing the same sentiment, via his website.
Thanks Frank! We hope others did the same.
Dear Congresswoman Barbara Lee,
I know this might be redundant as you have an excellent environmental record, but just the same, I would definitely appreciate it if you went against the current efforts by California water districts via the ACWA and some of their congressmen to weaken environmental standards. Thank you,
