Restore the Delta to Tell Brown Administration:
Economic Impacts Report is Work of Fiction;
There is a more Cost-Effective Solution than Tunnels

Restore the Delta (RTD) announced a media availability with Executive Director Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla and Policy Analyst Jane Wagner-Tyack following the Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) finance meeting in West Sacramento on Thursday, August 8th. RTD will reject the administration’s economic impact report on the Peripheral Tunnels as “biased, incomplete and fictional,” and urge the governor to pursue a more cost-effective and sustainable water plan than building the proposed Peripheral Tunnels. Mss. Wagner-Tyack will comment during the public comment section of the meeting, and Executive Director Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla will hold a media availability at noon.

“The Brown Administration is refusing to follow its own guidelines for determining whether a project’s benefits outweigh its costs,” said RTD Executive Director Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla. “The latest report perpetuates the biased, fragmented analysis that is no substitute for the comprehensive benefits-cost analysis any other project would be required to perform. If this weren’t the governor’s pet project, the Peripheral Tunnels would be rejected by the Dept. of Water Resources, based on its own guidelines.”
