Restore the Delta needs your help! Take action today!

Dear Restore the Delta Friends,

The California Legislature is beginning the process to craft a new water bond. We are asking all our members to call and/or write Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and tell him:

We are calling on you to protect the Sacramento River and the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta estuary.

Therefore, we are asking you to stop the creation of a water bond that has any money for mitigation of Governor Brown’s peripheral tunnel project (BDCP). The Department of Water Resources has failed to conduct a full cost benefit analysis of the BDCP, ignoring its own guidelines, and alternatives to the BDCP have not been adequately analyzed by the California Resources Agency. Furthermore, no river or estuary has ever been restored by having the majority of its water diverted.

We do, however, support public funds for water projects that promote regional self-sufficiency in other parts of the state and that will help to permanently decrease the amount of water taken from the Delta.

From there, you should personalize the letter to share your concerns about the proposed tunnel project.

Your letters and calls should be sent to the following address and/or phone number.

Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg
Capitol Office
State Capitol, Room 205
Sacramento, CA 95814

916-651-4004

Thank you for your help with action item

Yours in service,

Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla
