Local Government in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

Starting in 2007, local government entities within the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta have begun passing formal resolutions opposing any attempt to construct a new isolated conveyance facility (aka peripheral canal) to divert Sacramento River water around the Delta.

The government entities listed below recognize that the construction and operation of a peripheral canal would lead to such deteriorated water quality within the Delta that fisheries, farming, and recreation would be harmed irrevocably.

Restore the Delta salutes these city and county governing bodies for taking the lead in opposing the Department of Water Resource's peripheral canal plan for the Delta. We also encourage, you, our supporters, to contact your local city and county representatives to let them know why you oppose the peripheral canal and to encourage them to pass similar resolutions.

Please check back here at the Restore the Delta website for monthly updates on local government resolutions opposing the peripheral canal.
